
Ransom Wilson

Ransom Wilson is an Artist Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Professor of Flute at Yale University, as well as Music Director of the orchestra at the Idyllwild Academy of the Arts. Ransom has appeared with major orchestras around the world, and has played in recital with many of the greatest musicians of our time. He was educated at the North Carolina School of the Arts and The Juilliard School. For post-graduate work, he was an Atlantique Foundation scholar in Paris for a year, studying privately with Jean-Pierre Rampal. His other flute teachers have included Alain Marion, Philip Dunigan, Sandra Taylor, Lawrence Morgan, Severino Gazzelloni, Julius Baker, Christian Lardé, and Arthur Lora. Mr. Wilson has recorded 30 albums as either flutist and conductor, and was three times nominated for the "Grammy" award. Other awards he has received include the Alabama Prize from the New York Times Foundation, and the Award of Merit in Gold, from the Republic of Austria. Ransom is a frequent jury member of international competitions and recently gave a weeklong masterclass at the Paris Conservatory.
Daniel Alexander

Daniel Alexander has performed in a variety of ensembles, both in orchestral and chamber music settings. He premiered a set of new compositions by Laura Karpman in Carnegie Hall in 2005 and is set to premier recent works by Ezra Laderman for solo flute. He has also been contracted to record chamber music by Christopher Rouse with the Calder Quarter on the Koch label for release in 2008. Recent performances have included appearances with Ars Lyrica of Houston and at the Round Top Summer Music Festival. He is also a member of the New World Symphony conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, and a semi-finalist at the 2007 Myrna Brown Competition. He currently teaches at the University of Houston and is also on the faculty of the Cambridge International Flute Masterclass held annually in England with flutist/conductor Ransom Wilson. He obtained a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma at the Yale School of Music from 2003 to 2006, and also performed in several masterclasses across Europe, most notably with Alain Marion, Christian Lardé, and Patrick Gallois.
Timothy Carey
Tim Carey, from Chelmsford, England enjoys a career full of variety, as solo performer, chamber-music player, orchestral keyboard player and teacher. His early studies were with Harold Parker, Louis Kentner, and then, at the Royal College of Music, with Kendall Taylor, David Parkhouse, and Bernard Roberts. He was awarded many prizes and scholarships during his time there, both in and outside college.
He now spends his time partnering many different instrumentalists, especially flautists, in a large variety of chamber-music combinations, as well as giving the occasional solo recital or concerto performance. He is the regular pianist for the Flutewise series, and many other flute events in England, America and elsewhere. As orchestral keyboard player he has worked in the past with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Orchestras, the Philharmonia and currently with the Ulster Orchestra in Northern Ireland. He is much in demand as a teacher throughout Essex.
Piano playing has taken Mr.Carey all over Britain and Europe, as well as Israel, Malta, Russia, Scandinavia and frequently to the U.S.A, where he has become the regular pianist for the "Wildacres" flute course in North Carolina, the Cincinnati Flute Symposium and several other flute events. Last year he made a tour to Texas and Australia with the British jazz composer and flautist, Mike Mower. He also made his first visit to Japan and a tour of the US with another British flautist, Clare Southworth, and at Easter of last year he was the visiting pianist for the Australian flute convention, playing with flautists from all over the world. Last May he made a return visit to Kuwait where he gave a solo recital. Next year there are return trips planned to America, the Far East and Kuwait, amongst others.
When not actively involved in musical pursuits, Tim still finds time for his other interests which include languages, restoring cars, and flying.
