Hi, everybody!  First of all, Happy Holidays!!! I hope you and yours are enjoying the bounties of home and family.  Here in Connecticut, Walter and I enjoyed the quietest of Christmases, just the three dogs and us.  We are on a Vegan diet these days for reasons of health (ours and the planet's), but on special occasions we eat meat, eggs, and dairy.  Christmas dinner certainly qualifies, and Walter made his unrivaled Prime Rib, with Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Stir-Fried Brussels Sprouts in Maple, and Baked Stuffed Zucchini.  Yum!!!  We are both so busy normally that we don't get enough time to enjoy our beautiful house in the woods.  So a stay-cation is a wonderful treat, and we are enjoying it fully.  Our warmest wishes to all of you for the season!!!

Dear Mr. Wilson,

Back in 1970-71, I was a high school freshman playing cello in the Bergen (NJ) Philhharmonic. I have a dim recollection of a wonderful flute player with your name, playing a 20th century concerto by Paul Creston (it took me a long time to remember the name -- it's not even listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flute_concerto -- but I remember the notes were handwritten and hard to read).

t's something to see how excellence in youth becomes world renowned. Great to see your reputation now. Personally -- after getting admitted to Juilliard and Eastman, I chose Yale to study with Aldo Parisot, but while there I got more interested in public service than in music so went on to law school and now work to discipline public utility monopolies. And am a vegetarian like you.

My favorite flute lick is not a flute concerto but the amazing call-response triplets passages between two flutes in the last movt of the Strauss horn concerto. And also the bassoon-flute duet in the middle of Leonore Overture #3. Although there is a CPE Bach concerto, third movt, all built on lightning fast scales, that I love.

Best wishes.

Aside from my musical activities, I am married (legally!) to Walter Foery.  We live in a beautiful Contemporary house in the Connecticut woods, with our dogs Cassie, Zeus, and Paulo.
